My card for this round is a tribute to my niece, Princess Fiona (her official title), who is now 3 years old and LOVES Santa. OK -- she loves the IDEA of Santa. An actual visit to the fat-man-in-red is actually a high pitched, kicking fest that often ends with Santa taking one in the groin. This year my sister was confident that our Princess would do much better. She did make it all the way to the front of the line with much confidence and no tears. As soon as she was deposited on Santa's lap, the freak-fest began! I love it. Every year I receive a fantastic photo of my niece flippin' out on Santa's lap. That's when I know the holiday season has truly begun! So, I'm hoping your holiday is a scream as well! The center stage for Downtown Cincinnati is Fountain Square. This past year the square underwent a face-lift and relocation of the focal element, Genius of Water Tyler Davidson fountain. Local merchant, M. Hopple held a competition for artists to visualize what the renewed square would look like. My card was amongst the four finalists in the competition. I started with a digital image to gauge the proportions, then did a drawing/painting with natural media from the photo. Then I scanned in the painting, and developed the final image in Photoshop, and titled the work, Sparkle on the Square. Wishing you all the best in 2007!
