Round 35--Recipe Card--Group A (6.06)
I knew from the beginning I would be designing my recipe card for Vanilla Delight Pie, a family favorite. I knew the colors would definately play a part in the design. At first I started out with concepting horizontal bars to depict the layers with white, chocolate brown, yellow and white again for the top layer. The design became a little fragmented so I chose to stay simple letting the type play as a texture in itself. Then I illustrated a piece of the pie to show the layers. The fonts are ITC Legacy Sans and ICG Decotura In-line for the header. Enjoy.

Snack Crackers
~ Line a rimmed baking pan with parchment paper (lightly oil the pan so the paper sticks). Place saltine crackers side by side on the parchment until it's covered. ~ In a sauce pan melt 11/2 sticks of butter with 1/2 cup sugar. Pour over the saltines evenly. ~ Bake in a 350 oven for 10 minutes. ~ Remove from oven and sprinkle on 2 cups (12 oz.) chocolate chips. Return to the oven for a minute or so to get the chips to stick to the saltines. ~ Refrigerate for two hours then cut or break into pieces.
My recipe comes from the spice store, Penzeys. They recently started a food magazine, which is where I found this recipe. It's almost embarrassingly simple, but it's fun, delicious, and addicting.
Check out their website and magazine if you get a chance--www.penzeys.com

Here's a fancy restaurant dessert that's quick and easy to make with ingredietns you probably already have! Just don't expect it to look as pretty as a restaurant dessert! (see photo) Credit: Betty Crocker: Eat & Lose Weight 1997

Just thought I would have fun with this assignment and do a reduction print. Since I was pressed for time, I created the whole design in photoshop, using each layer as a linoleum block. As I put the layers together I forced them out of register to simulate a hand-printed feel. There are six layers, each cutting out the colors from light to dark. I chose Skippy because I love the taste and because I included a slight variation of their original recipe for my dessert, peanut butter
cookies. I love them. The style, of course, is highly influenced by Warhol.
